Dr. Sylvia Yang was born in Beijing, China, and grew up in Pennsylvania. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. She completed her clinical training, including Internal Medicine residency and fellowships and in General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she served as the chief interventional fellow.

James began his career as Director of Echocardiography as well as the Director of Medical Education at the combined programs of the Nebraska Heart Institute and Bryan/LGH Medical Center. He participated in groundbreaking research studies such as REMATCH, investigating the Heartmate II LVAD left ventricular assist device and COMPANION, investigating cardiac resynchronization therapy for advanced heart failure.
