As a pulmonary and critical care physician, I am passionate about patient care. The healthcare system can be challenging to navigate. Patients often struggle to get answers to their questions. I collaborate with and advocate for my patients, helping them find the information and care they need to meet their goals. I combine my passion for patient care with a deep commitment to improving healthcare systems. In my clinical work and research, I identify new solutions that provide the best care. I am particularly interested in how technology can reduce barriers to care so that patients can get the care they need. My primary research uses data and experiences from past patient care to make future treatments better and more efficient. I lead multiple research and evaluation efforts related to the Veterans Affairs' electronic health record modernization efforts. I am also exploring how artificial intelligence can support and improve patient care. In all my work, I am driven by the desire to provide the highest standard of care. I aim to ensure that patients receive the most informed, up-to-date treatments.

As a cardiac electrophysiologist, I combine my love for medicine and engineering to offer my patients innovative treatments for managing cardiac arrhythmias. I use the best and most effective methods while giving my patients access to the latest technologies and research. Treatment options include complex ablation, device implantation, medications, and lifestyle intervention. The best part of my job as an electrophysiologist is getting to know my patients. As we get to know each other, we build trust and choose the best treatment for them. It is a privilege to help my patients live active and fulfilling lives.

I help my patients improve their quality of life. Whether by eliminating seizures or at the very least, making my patients feel comfortable with a condition they’ve had for years, I do my best to ensure they achieve their health goals in matters big and small. An important part of my process is building rapport. I encourage patients to ask questions about anything I say or do during the visit. I listen to their stories with compassion before asking my own questions. Often, when family members are involved, I ask them for feedback and input into a patient’s well-being. We’re a team. I explain my thought process for diagnostic and treatment approaches. Those steps allow me to break down difficult-to-grasp medical information. That way, I can collaborate with my patients and their loved ones to tailor a neurological treatment plan that fits their unique needs and puts what they want at its center. Those efforts support my goal of providing optimal care. I’m motivated to do my best and stay up-to-date on the latest developments in neurology. Because hearing back from happy patients after making a medication change or performing a procedure is incredibly rewarding.
