The Washoe County School District operates several elementary, middle schools and high schools that have an enrollment of more than 60,000 students. Its schools have libraries that stock various types of books and reading and reference materials. The district organizes community education classes for adults. It offers mentor teacher, special education and English language learners programs. The Washoe County School District manages a staff of over more than 7,000 employees and nearly 1,000 substitute teachers. The district provides the Cyesis program for expectant teenagers. It offers support and guidance services, as well as imparts instruction in prenatal and infant care. The district s high schools provide traditional and adult diploma courses for various subjects, such as language arts, math, science, physical education and computer applications.
