HistoryHow long have you been counseling? I entered into the Substance Abuse Counseling field in 2007 after completing my Associates of Arts Degree at WNC. I was a Nevada Certified drug and alcohol counselor Intern at an in-patient substance abuse program. After a year, I transferred to a prison re-entry program. During my years of internship, I worked with some of the best counselors in the field and learned a great deal of the fundamentals that I use in my practice today. After three years in the field, I opened Capital City Counseling. Capital City Counseling flourished for 9 years, at which time I sold the business to my first employee. I took a sabbatical for 18 months and moved to Belize. I lived on the beach, kayaked, biked and explored the country to recharge my spirit. I have recently moved back to Carson City, where I am a mother of three, grandmother of three and I re-opened my business-this time as Miller Counseling.
