RTC Ride

Citifare is the public transit service for the greater Reno/Sparks community provided by the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County, Nev. Citifare service began in 1978 with five used buses serving four routes. Today, the system encompasses the cities of Reno, Sparks and areas of Washoe County using a fleet of 65 buses on 29 routes. The service area is approximately 58 square miles and transports more passengers than those who travel through the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. It is estimated that 8 million passengers ride Citifare in average year. Citifare has been recognized by the American Public Transit Association for achievements in safety. Funding for Citifare service is derived from a combination of farebox charges, local sales tax revenues, federal funds and Citifare transit advertising revenues.
