One of the most significant wetlands in the Western U.S., the Lahontan Valley Wetlands is a bird-watcher’s paradise, with 280 species of birds. Located sixty miles east of Reno near Fallon, these wetlands are accessible, affordable and intriguing. Designated internationally important by Western Hemispheric Shorebird Reserve Network; Globally Important Bird Area by American Bird Conservancy; and Important Bird Area by National Audubon Society, these rich diverse wetlands attract a million waterfowl and 20,000 water birds.
