Fibercraft was started to fill a need in the Reno / Sparks Nevada area. In 1967 the trend was to build inexpensive Fiberglass dune buggies for travel / recreation on the weekends. Seeing this trend Jake LaFluer started "Fibercraft" and began building fiberglass dune buggies out of the little shop in Reno. As time went on into the late 70's more "Volkswagen" parts were being sold through Fibercraft than bodies. Jake changed the direction of the business and began to expand his parts section to include high performance parts from Bugpack, Empi and Weber carburetors. during the "gas wars" of the late seventies the economical Volkswagen was a hot commodity and Fibercraft did a brisk business. After 20 plus years of business Jake decided to sell his business and retire. The new owners Bill & Julee Lott took over the business in 1981 and expanded to include parts for light trucks ( mostly shocks and suspension kits ). After many years and bulging shelves of parts Bill & Julee moved the contents of the "little yellow building" to the new address. In 1991 the "new"store opened for business with more floor space and ample parking with freeway access not to mention room for Bill to "tinker" on his race cars that you can see in the picture gallery.

Started going to Fibercraft this last year for my VW parts. Adam, the owner is extremely helpful and has gotten me every part I need. Yohan (not sure how to spell it) has also been very helpful....

Fibercraft is a great place and we are lucky to have an air cooled parts store like this in town! The staff is totally helpful and doesn't make you feel like a schmuck if you really don't know...
