Panaca, NV 89042

Cathedral Gorge State Park, nestled in a narrow valley in Panaca, NV, showcases stunning geological formations created by erosion on soft bentonite clay. The park’s origins trace back to volcanic eruptions that left layers of ash, shaping cave-like structures and cathedral-like spires over millions of years. Visitors can explore the park's walking trails, offering picturesque views of the dramatic canyon, ideal for hiking, picnicking, camping, and nature enthusiasts.

The park boasts a campground with 22 sites, each equipped with amenities like tables, grills, and shade ramadas. For equestrian enthusiasts, there are designated trails to explore, and group areas are available for day and overnight stays. The visitor center provides valuable insights into the park's history and natural resources, making it a perfect stop before embarking on outdoor adventures.

Immerse yourself in the rich history of Cathedral Gorge State Park, which was established in 1935 to preserve the ancestral lands of the Fremont, Anasazi, and Southern Paiute tribes. With a modest day use entrance fee, visitors can experience the park's beauty and tranquility, reflecting both its violent volcanic past and its serene present as a sanctuary for nature lovers and history buffs alike.
