Valentine National Wildlife Refuge, located in the heart of the Sandhills in north-central Nebraska, is a unique and ecologically important component of the National Wildlife Refuge System. With its native grass prairie, hills, wetlands, lakes, and marshes, the refuge provides a diverse habitat for a wide range of wildlife, including 270 species of birds, 59 species of mammals, and 22 species of reptiles and amphibians.
