State Patrol Training Center
The Nebraska State Patrol's Police Service Dog Division is a support division that assists other divisions within the Nebraska State Patrol and outside law enforcement agencies. They utilize Police Service Dog Teams stationed across the state to aid in the detection of controlled substances, locating lost or missing persons, and apprehending criminals.
Since 1988, the Nebraska State Patrol has been using Police Service Dogs, starting with two German Shepherds named Caesar and Falco. Due to their success, the number of Police Service Dog teams has increased over the years, and currently, there are ten Narcotic Detector Dog Patrol Dog Teams and one Explosive Detector Dog Patrol Dog Team in service. The dogs are carefully selected and paired with handlers, with the Belgian Malinois breed being the primary choice for their athleticism and versatility.
