South Platte Distributing
The South Platte Enhancement Board (SPEB) was established to support and implement the South Platte Protection Plan (SPPP), initiated in 1997 as a response to the U.S.D.A. Forest Service's study on the designation of sections of the Upper South Platte River under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. SPEB focuses on enhancing and preserving Outstandingly Remarkable Values (ORVs) in the South Platte River basin, including recreation, fisheries, wildlife, geology, cultural and historical resources, vegetation, and scenic values.
Among its duties, SPEB evaluates grant proposals that contribute to the ORVs, manages the distribution of approved grant funding, and promotes community awareness of the South Platte River's significance as a vital water source. The board serves as an advocate for collaborative implementation of the SPPP, emphasizing the importance of preserving the river's ecological and cultural heritage.
