Countryside Greenhouse

Established in 1982, Countryside Greenhouse has grown to be one of the biggest and best garden centers in West Michigan. Built originally as a wholesale facility Countryside has undergone a lot of changes. As our wholesale production began to grow to impressive levels people in the community began stopping in to inquire about retail purchases. As this traffic flow increased we began investigating the opening of a retail outlet off our production facility that would allow the public to shop in comfort while we still serviced our wholesale customers. During this time we built more facility to try to keep up with the demand of both sides of our business. As we reach the limits of how much facility we can add, we no longer feel we can adequately service both sides of our business and have decided to become solely a retail establishment. We feel that using the knowledge of mass production, that allowed us to be a successful wholesale, and concentrating our energy completely on our retail customers, we can provide home and garden decorations and accessories at nearly wholesale prices.Soil ProductionCountryside Greenhouse Management learned long ago that we get a much better soil mixture when we mix it ourselves right here in our facility. Doing so insures that we only grow in a top quality mix. A top quality mix is important to us both for growing in our own facility, but also for ensuring that our customers end up with a product that performs well for them. We've been producing our own soil now for several years and believe we've tweaked the mixture to perfection. Countryside Greenhouse potting soil is a mixture of Canadian Spaghnum Peat Moss, Michigan Reed Sedge Peat, Composted Pine Bark, Perlite, Limestone, and Gypsum. This mixture has been designed to ensure water absorption, proper soil aeration, and correct pH balance.During our years of producing wholesale plants we perfected an efficient transplanting line that now allows us to serve the general public with high quality, low cost flowers. Seedlings can be planted up from their seed flats into their larger finishing containers very efficiently and then moved to their proper place in the facility on our conveyor belt system.
