Nebraska is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States. It was admitted into the United States in 1867 as the 37th state. The largest city in Nebraska is Omaha, which is on the Missouri River. Nebraska is the only triply landlocked state in the United States. The state is bordered by South Dakota to the north; Iowa to the east and Missouri to the southeast, Kansas to the south; Colorado to the southwest; and Wyoming to the west. The lawmaking body of Nebraska's government is the only to elect members without any official reference to political party affiliation. The state hosts many historical trails like that of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
