Lothrop Magnet Center

The Lothrop Magnet Center serves approximately 400 students in prekindergarten through fourth grade. The school offers classes in science, Spanish and technology. It promotes literacy and mathematical competency and skills. The Lothrop Magnet Center organizes workshops on nutrition and parenting and computer skills. The school s Reading First program emphasizes phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. Its facilities include various labs, including green house, practical physics, language and computer. The Lothrop Magnet Center sponsors several magnet family nights and science and cultural fairs. The school provides special classes in art, music, physical education, reading and speech. It also offers English as a Second Language and gifted and talented education programs. Located in Omaha, Neb., the Lothrop Magnet Center is a part of Omaha Public Schools.
