GeneSeek s first product was the provision of custom high-throughput whole-genome scans in agricultural species and humans. This remains among the company s primary products. The company has also expanded into DNA-based diagnostics testing for the animal-breeding industry, incorporating licensed tests that enable breeding companies to improve their germplasm by eliminating specific detrimental alleles within a variety of genes. GeneSeek is a privately held biotechnology company that offers DNA-based discovery and diagnostic products and services. The company serves the agricultural genetics and food-safety markets. GeneSeek was established in 1998 at the University of Nebraska Technology Park, in Lincoln, Neb. In December 2001, GeneSeek moved into its corporate headquarters, which also includes a custom-designed laboratory.
