Mission Valley Animal Shelter (MVAS) is the only brick-and-mortar animal sheltering facility between Missoula and Kalispell, located in the Mission Valley of Western Montana. Established in 1989 and permanently opening in 1994, MVAS serves animals from throughout Lake County, addressing the unique challenges posed by the area's stray and un-sterilized animal population.
The shelter is equipped with various facilities, including multiple indoor and outdoor dog kennels, as well as dedicated areas for cats and kittens. MVAS actively works to match animals with forever families while providing essential services such as vaccine clinics and spay/neuter certificates to ensure community health and safety.
