The Granite County Solid Waste District operates two container facilities in Philipsburg and Drummond, Montana. These facilities accept household and business waste, including construction waste and auto tires, as well as white goods appliances and salvage metals for recycling. However, they do not accept human waste, syringes, asbestos, or hazardous materials. The district also offers options for non-account holders who own land in Granite County to dispose of waste, either by paying a base rate for a whole unit or using a pay-as-you-go system. Currently, there is no recycling available through the Granite County Solid Waste Program.

In addition to waste disposal, the district operates burn piles at both sites for burning tree limbs and non-treated wood wastes. However, painted boards, plywood, particle board, drywall, and grass clippings should not be put in the burn piles. The Drummond site is also licensed as a Class II Composting Operation. The district emphasizes the importance of proper waste disposal and requires customers to sign a Hazardous Waste Activity Release of Liability Form when disposing of construction materials. Unpaid fees for more than 90 days may be subject to a tax lien as allowed under Montana law. Please note that Granite Disposal is a private company and not affiliated with Granite County, providing garbage pick-up services.
