The West Glacier Restaurant and Mercantile buildings were constructed in 1938 at the junction of the Going to the Sun Road and US Highway 2. Glacier National Park was essentially closed during World War II and in 1946 the Lundgren Family and Dave Thompson purchased the business, which consisted of the buildings you see today. Several structures have been added over time, but visitors still discover a scenic mountain village as they enter the Park through West Glacier. The Lundgren family takes great pride in the historic buildings and grounds. Visitors who return from year to year are delighted to find things just the way they used to be. In 1987, The West Glacier Mercantile Company received a Special Commendation from the Department of the Interior for sheltering and protecting the West Entrace of Glacier National Park from inappropriatae development and for maintaining the historic character of the town site.
We strive for perfection. Great food, friendly knowledgeable staff and a fun atmosphere. We serve a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our 2 daily soups are always homemade. The huckleberry cream pie is the best you will ever find! Our menu includes something for every taste: lighter appetites, children's menu, vegetarian and hungry hikers! We can seat up to 120 people and have a full beverage license, so you may enjoy a cocktail with your meal. We do carry out and sack lunches for small or large groups and we have great coffee from Montana Coffee Traders.

Although I love a shop close by a national park.. I do have some feedback on the burger. It tasted like it came straight out of a cafeteria... The staff was supper friendly, most being out town...

We came for a quick lunch on our way back to our campsite. I ordered the chicken tenders and my husband had the bison burger. We also ordered a couple drinks at the bar and sat in the bar area....
