Childbloom Guitar Program
History
The Childbloom Guitar program has been providing is a comprehensive musical education for children in Missoula for nearly 25 years. The Childbloom teaching methodology was developed in 1980 by Kevin Taylor, of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in response to a lack of well thought out guitar instruction approaches for young children. Using a solid foundation of child development theory from Jean Piaget and others, Mr. Taylor created an approach that focuses on using play, parent involvement, and clear step-by-step levels of achievement. The Childbloom Guitar Method is currently being used by educators throughout the nation and is the largest program of its kind in the United States. Missoula Childbloom has bee the recipient of multiple national awards for the quality of our teaching, and has the second highest enrollment of students of all of the Childbloom Programs in the country.
Specialties
The Missoula Childbloom Guitar Program specializes in guitar instruction for children ages 5 and up. Our nationally certified instructors provide comprehensive music lessons in a positive, playful, low-pressure environment, using a highly effective curriculum and teaching methodology developed specifically for working with young students. We focus on creating a supportive environment for students to develop a love of music, good technique on their instrument, music reading skills, and confidence playing music with others. Classes are taught in a small group format, which allows both individual attention and experience in musical interaction.
