With more than 85 locations and a fleet of nearly 125,000 trailers, XTRA is one of the largest over-the-road trailer rental and leasing companies in North America. In September 2001, Berkshire Hathaway acquired XTRA Corporation. As a wholly owned subsidiary, XTRA Lease is based in St. Louis. XTRA operates domestic regional offices in California, Texas, Illinois and Georgia. The company also has a regional office outside of Toronto in Mississauga, Ontario. Berkshire Hathaway is a Nebraska-based holding company owning subsidiaries engaged in a number of diverse business activities.
