Struckhoff Sanitary Landfill
The Washington Landfill, located at 925 Struckhoff Lane in Washington, Missouri, has been in operation since 1997 and has received a total of 761,000 tons of solid waste as of February 2023. On average, the landfill accepts around 29,000 tons of waste per year, with 5,000 tons coming from residents within the city.
The landfill accepts various types of waste, including municipal solid waste, bulky waste, demolition and construction waste, wood waste, small dead animals, roofing shingles, soil, rock, concrete, and other inert solids. However, it does not accept regulated hazardous waste, radioactive materials, bulk liquids, highly flammable or volatile substances, septic tank pumping, major appliances, waste oil, lead-acid batteries, computer equipment, yard waste, explosives, or asbestos shingles without a special waste disposal permit.
