Founded in 1897, Della Lamb Community Services is a nonprofit organization that provides child care and related services for low-income families. It organizes education, athletic, recreational and cultural activities, as well as offers drug and violence preventative programs for children and youths of ages 5 to 18. The organization has a sports ministry that provides cheerleading, tutoring and summer camping programs. Additionally, it offers early education, transportation and emergency services. The organization also distributes a variety of groceries, including meat, vegetables and fruits, and starch and personal care items. In addition, it supplies deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper, and laundry, bath and dishwashing soaps. The organization operates an adult education, social services, distribution and transportation centers, as well as a thrift store and elementary charter school. It is a member of the Heart of America United Way. Della Lamb Community Services is located in Kansas City, Mo.
