The American Public Works Association is an international educational and professional association of public agencies, private sector companies and individuals dedicated to providing high quality public works goods and services. The association is considered to be a highly participatory organization, with a variety of opportunities for leadership and service. It also offers its members from the United States with a network of several dozen national committees in every area of public works. Governed by a 17-member board of directors, elected at both the regional and national levels, American Public Works Association is a flexible association with a diversified membership of nearly 30,000. Operating from two locations, one of American Public Works Association s offices is in Kansas City, Mo.

Established in 1958, the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation focuses on supporting the research on the economic aspects of general practice. It helps victims of natural disasters throughout the United States and various countries worldwide. The foundation also offers several financial grant plans, including the Joint Grant Awards Program and Practice Based Research Network Stimulation Grants for long- and short-term scientific projects. It works in collaboration with several constituent chapters and chapter foundations of the American Academy of Family Physicians to provide the Family Medicine Philanthropic Consortium program, which emphasizes the improvement of health care services for individuals of all ages. Additionally, the foundation conducts student conferences and award ceremonies.
