The best part about practicing medicine in a rural community is caring for whole families. When I started, a family practice would try to take care of all their needs. I still try to do that. You can fragment health care by referring people out. In rural health care, we can care for the whole person. I'm going to listen to patients, try to meet their needs, communicate well with them and show compassion in everything we do.
