When Richard left his career in nursing management in 1984 to enter seminary, he made his own robes for his student ministry experience. When his classmates saw his fine work, he became popular as a personal tailor. Upon graduation and entering the fulltime ministry, Richard put the patterns away. He then spent twenty fulfilling years of ministry in the states and in Africa with his family. But finally, in January, 2011, the Lord opened Richard s mind to return to tailoring for his fellow clergy. He resurrected the clerical robe patterns and stepped into a world of restoration. On June 6, 2011, Man of the Cloth LLC became a legal entity in the state of Missouri. He then developed a web presence on July 4, 2011, with a shop on Etsy for made-to-order vestments and a shop on Bonanza for selling ready-made items from Man of the Cloth s sample rack. Five years down the road, Richard started seeing people come to his country home seeking alterations and repairs. The neighbors had been talking about his fine sewing performance. So in February, 2016, Man of the Cloth opened a storefront in Rolla, Missouri to serve the local community for alterations and general sewing needs.
