Lumbermens Underwriting Alliance (LUA) was declared insolvent and ordered into liquidation by the Circuit Court of Cole County, Missouri, on May 23, 2016. The Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance appointed a statutory Receiver to oversee the liquidation process, with Bruce Baty serving as the Special Deputy Receiver.

As of March 15, 2022, LUA no longer accepts mail on behalf of any state guaranty association, and all workers' compensation claims are now managed by the affected state guaranty associations. Claimants are required to submit a Proof of Claim by the established deadline, and late submissions may be considered at the discretion of the Receiver in accordance with Missouri law.
