In 2013, Brooke's grandfather, Errol Durbin, got the flu and began a downward spiral in his health. After multiple stints in rehabilitation facilities, he was unable to care for himself. Durbin ended up in a nursing facility, until his family discovered that his long-term care insurance provided for in-home care.
