Established in 1976, El Centro is a social services organization that creates and manages educational, social and economic opportunities for individuals and families. It provides a telephone reassurance program that focuses on companionship services for senior citizens. The organization offers shelter placement, case management, and individual and group counseling services for the victims of domestic violence. It also provides emergency assistance, health care management, and interpretation and translation services, as well as organizes health fairs to address the medical needs of individuals and families. El Centro operates The Academy for Children, a bilingual preschool that provides research-based educational curriculum for children and home-based instruction for parents. The organization conducts after-school activities that build self-esteem and reinforce academic studies. El Centro maintains one of its facilities in Kansas City, Kan.

Crown Uptown Professional Dinner Theatre is one of the most popular and year-round professional theaters in Kansas. It hosts several professional Broadway-style musical and comedy shows and offers dining options for guests. The theater s plays include Club Morocco, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, The Diamonds, Smoke On The Mountain and Viagara Falls. Crown Uptown Professional Dinner Theatre s children s section conducts several plays, including Cinderella, Aladdin and Pinocchio. Established in 1977, the theater s producer, Ted Morris, auditions more than 1,000 professional actors, singers and dancers every year at national auditions.
