Kauffman Scholars, Inc. (KSI) is a post-secondary scholarship program based in Kansas City, Missouri. Established in 2003, KSI aims to provide equitable opportunities for students in the Kansas City area by offering full scholarships for college or post-secondary education, along with comprehensive support services. The program, originally known as Project Choice, was founded by Ewing Marion Kauffman and has since evolved to include academic tutoring, mentoring, and wraparound services to help students succeed throughout their educational journey.
KSI focuses on supporting low-income students from households within the Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri public school districts. With a commitment to investment rather than charity, KSI values the empowerment of scholars, emphasizing shared power and building strong relationships within the program. After 20 years of impact, KSI celebrated its final cohort graduation in June 2023, marking the culmination of its mission to provide hope and support for students in achieving their educational goals.
