What I want people to know about Mercy and gastroenterology and hepatology is that were a good group, a pretty big group and we talk to each other. We're very passionate about being able to give the best care. So, it's not uncommon where things aren't always straightforward where there's not a direct answer. And so, we talk amongst colleagues and were always available and there's a big group that works with you. You have an individual that you see, but you're getting the thoughts and experience of our whole group.

For reconstructive urology, which is what I specialize in, I really believe that the patient interaction and the counseling aspect is one of the most important things about the field that I'm in and the surgeries that I do. So, oftentimes, the surgeries that I'm doing are dealing with improving somebody's quality of life, in addition to treating their disease process. I think the two go hand in hand. I think it's very important that patients are aware these are all the things that can go wrong. These are the things that you should expect afterwards. I think those are all key components to how to manage all these, at times, complex problems.

I chose to become a physician because of my love of science and my desire to work closely with others. I was drawn to cardiology because the heart is often thought of as providing the vital force which keeps us alive. I strive to work closely with patients and their families, to help them understand and manage their heart condition in an effort maximize their physical and emotional well-being and enhance their quality of life.
