Gravois Fire Protection District
The Gravois Fire Protection District, formerly known as the Twin Bays Fire Department, has been serving the Gravois Mills area since 1970. With a mission to protect lives and property from destructive fires, the district operates seven firehouses and one training and maintenance facility, covering 150 square miles and 63 miles of shoreline.
Initially funded by donations, the district became a combination department in 1992, consisting of volunteer firefighters, career firefighters, and support staff. Thanks to a capital improvement bond and increased funding, the district now has fifteen paid firefighters on duty 24/7, along with a fleet of fire apparatus and vehicles to respond to over 1200 emergency calls annually. With a commitment to training and community service, the district continues to improve its ISO rating and provide essential fire protection services to the community.
