With a majority of the members being Alton residents and neighbors, the department operates 24/7 at their central station. In 2019, they responded to 931 calls for service, which included structural fires, EMS calls, motor vehicle crashes, and various other emergencies. The mission of Alton Fire Rescue is to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens and visitors of Alton through staffing, training, and public education.
