Mississippi Action Community Education, Inc is a non-profit, minority rural development organization created by community leaders in 1967 to stimulate physical, social, and economic development in the rural Mississippi Delta. Very early in its history, MACE learned that beyond the problems of race and poverty, there exists in southern, rural communities the broader, structural problem of underdevelopment ; that for genuine community development to occur, the prerequisite human and organizational capacities must first be developed, the basic community social and political structures must first be created. Our goal is to support our graduates as they continue their education, advance in the workplace, and make plans for their future. We assist in the following areas development:

The Bolivar County Literacy Council in Cleveland, MS, is dedicated to enhancing literacy and educational opportunities for individuals in the community. The Leflore County Humane Society, established in 1970, is a non-profit shelter dedicated to providing protection, shelter, food, medical care, and love to cats and dogs in crisis in Greenwood and the Leflore County area. With a mission to change the future of these animals, the society accepts donations of all sizes to help them find forever homes and offers opportunities for volunteering and fostering.
