Located on the Old Mississippie River where trade has occurred since the Indigenous Americans rode the river and took refuge in the bluffs at Glass Bayou. Vicksburg became a city and grew up the western hill from the traffic teaming on the bayou in the late 1700's. By the late 1800's all the wilds of the west were happening where everyone got together - the Klondyke. A newspaper report from 1903 says over $10,000 changed hands at the cock fighting that every Friday night. The Klondyke is located at the southern base of Wynn's HIll. During the Civil War the 1st Tennessee Artillary Batallion, led by Andrew Jackson Jr, was the last line of defense from the Northern Aggressors. The rampart is still visible in the bush if you're hearty enough for for the up hill climb. In 1896 a failed Klondike prospector was rafting down the Mississippi River and saw all the action in Glass Bayou. He declared he was going to set up shop and make this place his own little Klondike. 116 years!!
Down home Southern cooking at it's finest. The Historic Klondyke Trading Post is an institution in Vicksburg and recently gained world wide fame on 'Appetite for Life

The food was decent and so are the prices. The food was pretty greasy but pretty good regardless. The service was okay, a little confusion between sitting down to eat and ordering at the counter....
