History

Gumbo Girl is the nick name that Marilyn Shelby Kithuka (the Gumbo Girl herself) was given when her specialty gumbo became really popular. She had been making this specialty recipe gumbo for years at family gatherings and the holidays. Often, most people would tell her that she should package it for retail. She later started a catering business, and the demand for her premium gumbo grew so much, it was time to open a restaurant, to share some of her favorite family recipes with the world.
