Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge, located in coastal Mississippi and Alabama, was established in 1992 to protect one of the largest remaining expanses of Gulf Coast wet pine savanna habitat, which is considered endangered due to its dwindling numbers. Spanning 10,188 acres, the refuge features diverse habitats, including maritime forests, tidal and non-tidal wetlands, salt marshes, and bayous, supporting a wide variety of fish, fowl, and flora.

Visitors to the refuge are encouraged to start their experience at the Grand Bay Coastal Resources Center, where they can learn about the unique ecosystems and species that inhabit the area. The refuge actively engages with volunteers and community members to promote conservation efforts and enhance the health of local wildlife and habitats.
