Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association (TVEPA) is an electric cooperative that serves more than 26,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in nine north Mississippi counties. As a nonprofit distributor of electricity that is generated by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), TVEPA conducts business for the benefit of its member-owners. As a result, the company s rates are among the lowest in the Southeast United States and in the nation. TVEPA is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors that is elected by the member-owners whom are served by the electric cooperative. The company has its headquarters in Batesville, Miss., and has additional service personnel stationed in the Mississippi communities of Senatobia, Coffeeville and Charleston.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division is one of the largest public utilities in the nation. MLGW serves nearly 415,000 customers in Shelby County and central Tennessee. The Tennessee Valley Authority, a federal agency that sells electricity on a nonprofit basis, supplies MLGW with electricity. MLGW is TVA's largest customer, representing 11 percent of TVA's total load. There are more than 415,000 electric customers. MLGW purchases gas on the spot market and transports it to Memphis across two open pipeline companies, Texas Gas Transmission Corporation and Panhandle Energy. MLGW furnishes more than 40 billion cubic feet to its 310,000 gas customers each year. MLGW owns and operates one of the largest artesian water systems in the world. On a peak day, MLGW delivers more than 250 million gallons of water to its customers.
