The Cleveland Current, launched on March 8, 2009, was the first Sunday newspaper in Cleveland, Mississippi, distributing nearly 4,000 copies weekly until 2017. The publication received numerous accolades, including a prestigious award from the National Newspaper Association.

After the closure of the Bolivar Commercial in April 2020, J. Scott Coopwood, a seventh-generation Mississippian, re-entered the newspaper industry by founding The Bolivar Bullet in May 2020, which serves as the newspaper of record for Cleveland and Bolivar County. The Bolivar Bullet is published every Wednesday, continuing the tradition of local journalism in the area.
