Choctaw County Community Counseling

Community Counseling Services is a public, nonprofit agency that is licensed by the Mississippi State Department of Mental Health. It serves individuals in Choctaw, Clay, Lowndes, Noxubee, Webster, Winston and Oktibbeha counties in Mississippi. The agency has more than 450 staff members and offers over 65 programs at nearly 50 sites. It provides adult outpatient services that include individual, group and family therapies. The agency offers case management solutions for adults and children with developmental disabilities. Community Counseling Services provides alcohol and drug treatment programs for adolescents. The agency serves individuals with mental retardation, autism and cerebral palsy. It offers the Back On Track Program for middle school students with emotional and behavioral problems. Community Counseling Services additionally provides employee assistance programs and day treatment services for citizens above the age of 50.

The organization was formed as a result of the Federal Community Mental Health Centers Act, mandating community access to mental health care. It is a public nonprofit agency licensed by the Mississippi State Department of Mental Health. Community Counseling Services is supervised by mental health commissioner, who is appointed by board of supervisors in every county. The organization has more than 450 staff members that provide services to over 65 programs in nearly 50 sites, covering a seven-county area. It provides various services, including mental health, residential, alcohol and drug, and developmental disability services and employee assistance programs. Community Counseling Services is located in Columbus, Miss.

Life Help ( REGION VI MH/MR CMHC ) is a public, nonprofit agency licensed and partially funded by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. We provide mental health services to individuals in Leflore, Carroll, Attala, Holmes, Humphreys, Sunflower, Montgomery and Grenada counties. Life Help is one of fifteen community mental health centers created as a result of the Regional Commission Act of 1972. Life Help is governed by an eight member Board of Commissioners. The Board of Supervisors from each of our eight counties appoints a commissioner to serve on our Board for a four-year term. Offices are located in each of our eight counties, with our central office situated in Greenwood. Fees are based on a sliding fee scale, according to income and number of dependents. Medicaid, medicare, and private insurance are accepted. No one is refused for his or her inability to pay. All visits, applications, and telephone calls are completely confidential.
