The Health and Human Services Department is administered by the government of Beltrami County in Minnesota. The department is responsible for administering social, child support and financial assistance programs under the supervision of the state government. It provides protective services to at-risk children, adults and senior citizens, as well as individuals with disabilities. The Health and Human Services Department also offers child support services to custodial and noncustodial parents. In addition, the department assists low-income families and individuals to meet their basic needs. Its advisory committee acts as a liaison between constituent groups and the department. The Health and Human Services Department coordinates medical assistance programs for families, children and pregnant women.

The City of Detroit Lakes Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance, repair and snowplowing of city streets. The department also oversees the maintenance and repair of traffic, street and regulatory signs, storm sewers and pavement markings, as well as the trimming of trees. The City of Detroit Lakes Public Works Department constructs sidewalks and offers residential street construction and reconstruction services. Located in Detroit Lakes, Minn., the department undertakes snow removal activities. In addition, it offers weed removal services to city residents. The City of Detroit Lakes Public Works Department additionally operates a yard waste site that recycles wood, hedges and branches.
