Thief River Falls Area Food SHLF
The Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf, established in April 2011, aims to "Extinguish Hunger, Ignite Hope" by providing essential food and hygiene items to individuals and families in need across over forty rural towns in Northwest and North Central Minnesota. Since acquiring a permanent location in 2017 and becoming a certified SuperShelf in 2019, the organization has expanded its services, including a community garden that produced approximately 300 pounds of food for its clients.
In 2022, the food shelf served 7,084 individuals, including families, children, and seniors, distributing a total of 288,909 pounds of food and household items. The organization also supports the local migrant population employed at the nearby turkey plant, ensuring that assistance reaches those who are displaced or in need within the community.
