Second Harvest Heartland

Second Harvest Heartland, located in St. Paul, Minn., is a social service and welfare organization. It operates programs for providing basic resources to low-income individuals. The agency works with the aid of social workers and volunteers that provide food and basic resources to families living below the poverty line and suffering from malnourishment. The agency serves children and adults, and has distribution center in Minneapolis that stocks food received from corporate donations, government agencies and individual and communities support. It operates various programs, such as the food rescue, supplement food and purchase programs. The agency also provides health education in schools and distributes fresh produce to unemployed women and children, and senior adults. Second Harvest Heartland has a fleet of trucks that supplies food to more than 800 agency members in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. It also addresses the health and nutrition issues of children, starvation and provides equitable access to nutritional foods, fruits and vegetables. It is a member of the America s Second Harvest, the nation s food bank network.
