Urban Roots
Urban Roots, established in 1969 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to cultivating and empowering youth through nature, healthy food, and community engagement in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Since 1996, the organization has offered paid internships to youth aged 14-24, fostering leadership, entrepreneurial, and life skills through its Market Garden, Conservation, and Cook Fresh programs.
Through hands-on experiences, youth interns engage in small-scale crop production, learn about seasonal food preparation, and work to restore greenspaces while connecting the community to its natural resources.
