The Northern Minnesota Railroad Heritage Association, home of the Northern Trackers, is a dedicated group committed to preserving and presenting the rich history of the railroad industry in northern Minnesota. After a devastating fire destroyed their exhibits and inventory, the club rallied together to raise funds and rebuild, resulting in a new building that now houses their museum and model railroad layouts.

With a focus on depicting the historic and contemporary railroad heritage of the region, the Northern Minnesota Railroad Heritage Association offers visitors a chance to explore a 1:2 scale replica of the William Crooks locomotive and cars, operating model railroad layouts, and a variety of museum artifacts, photography, and interpretative displays. Through educational services and instruction in model railroading skills, the association aims to engage both children and adults in the fascinating world of trains and contribute to the preservation of this important part of northern Minnesota's history.

This place is pretty cool and the price is free (donations are accepted though and appreciated). The people running this set up have multiple rooms with the most impressive being the main room...

We love this place! We live in CA and visit every time we come to MN. My kids talk about it all year.
