MVAC Thrift Store

The Minnesota Valley Action Council (MVAC) is a non-profit organization established in 1965 under the Equal Opportunity Act. They provide assistance to residents in need in nine counties in Southern Minnesota, including Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Le Sueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca, and Watonwan. MVAC offers programs in six main areas, including pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers; employment training; energy assistance; housing; transportation; and finances.

As a Community Action Agency, MVAC uses federal, state, and local resources to help individuals and communities secure affordable housing, viable transportation, employment and training opportunities, and educational opportunities for children. They are not part of the government or a political entity, but rather a private organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for those in need. MVAC's offices are open Monday to Friday, and they also operate thrift stores in Mankato and New Ulm.
