Northwest Area Foundation works to reduce poverty in rural and urban Latino communities in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon. It offers mission-related investments in the form of a venture capital fund and provides capital to grow established businesses in the region that help to support local economies by creating and retaining jobs that pay living wages and benefits. Midwest Special Services, located in St. Paul, Minn., is a nonprofit organization that offers specialized programs for individuals with a wide range of disabilities. Its programs are for adults over the age of 18 and its services area covers the seven county Minneapolis Metro Area. MSS offers vocational programs, personal care assistance, onsite nursing services, art activities, swimming, transportation, individual performance programs, job coaching, physical therapy and occupational therapy. More than 90% of its enrolled individuals choose vocational work opportunities offered as part of a personal achievement plan. MSS operates licensed facilities in Hennepin, Ramsey and Dakota counties in Minnesota.
