History
The American Association of Woodturners was founded in 1986 to promote woodturning as an art form and as a recreational activity. Members include everyone from professional artists with work in major museums to absolute beginners, along with wood-related businesses, galleries and collectors. The gallery opened its doors in Landmark Center in late 2004.
Specialties
Hard to describe but fun and eye-opening to visit, the AAW Gallery of Wood Art is one of Saint Paul's hidden treasures. The gallery offers four to six shows each year by leading contemporary wood artists, but it is more than gallery: a vintage lathe collection, historic pieces, and a gift store featuring regional artists add to the experience.
