HistoryIn 1953, while working as a bookkeeper in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, Howard Unger bought an assortment of fashion jewelry from a supplier based in Chicago.This was the first purchase for what would later become known as Howard's Jewelry. Howard continued buying and selling wholesale fashion jewelry on a part time basis until 1961 when he made it a full time endeavor, and then incorporated the business in 1974. On July 1, 1981, Howard Unger sold the company to his daughter, Peggy and her husband, Richard Fox, who had been working for the company for a number of years. During the next 24 years, Richard and Peggy grew and expanded Howard's Jewelry, Inc. into a nationally recognized wholesale distributor of fashion jewelry and giftware.
