To serve the communities in our area by providing adoption, foster care, education, lost & found and volunteer opportunities to strengthen and support the relationships between pets and people. Serves the southwestern metropolitan areas of Minneapolis, including Carver, Scott and Hennepin counties Is foster-home-based ; all staff work out of their homes ; CSHS is a 99% volunteer organization Currently places around 350 animals a year ( mostly dogs, cats, puppies and kittens ) into adoptive homes. Carver-Scott Humane Society ( CSHS ) considers itself a "low-kill" organization. CSHS does not euthanize based on the supply and demand of pet overpopulation. Rather, CSHS works with participating vets and only euthanizes animals deemed unadoptable due to severe health issues or unremediable behavior problems, such as aggression and biting. CSHS provides medical help to all injured or sick animals who are expected to fully recover and be adoptable. Due to the fact that our Dog and Cat Coordinators keep the capacity of foster homes to a manageable level and euthanasia rates are low, CSHS is not able to have an open door policy. Therefore, strays, homeless and hardship cases receive priority before personal surrenders. CSHS receives 100% of our funding through programming and donations ; we do not receive government funding. Our major fundraiser has been our annual Walk. CSHS fostered animals are promoted at monthly Pet Adoption Days.

I had recently an unspeakably negative experience with your shelter and the foster that I worked with. I am baffled as to how it went. I'm sure the animals are fine, and I wish them well, but...

I don't know why there aren't any reviews. I would leave a ZERO if I could. The dog I adopted came from a "foster house" of two crazy looking people who literally threw him at us and ran, although...
