Founded in 1967, Minnesota Public Radio is one of the premier public radio organizations in the United States. Headquartered in St. Paul, Minn., the organization operates a regional network of more than 35 stations, covering Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Michigan, Iowa and Idaho. Operating as American Public Media, Minnesota Public Radio is also the country's biggest station-based producer of national public radio programs. It is a recipient of a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, which is one of America's largest independent evaluator of charities and meets all standards of the Charities Review Council. Minnesota Public Radio serves a regional population of over 5 million people and more than 750,000 listeners each week. It is also one of the largest producers and distributors of classical music programming in the U.S. With assistance from the state of Minnesota, Minnesota Public Radio maintains and improves the technical infrastructure to the state's Emergency Alert System by providing signals to all other radio, television and cable stations in Minnesota.

The Law Enforcement Center is a part of the sheriff's department of Steele County, Minn. It handles cases related to illegal alcohol and drug activities, fraud, child abuse and criminal violations. The center maintains a team of patrol officers to assure security of business in rural areas, enforce traffic laws, initial investigation of burglaries, assaults and vandalism. Its civil process handles civil legal documents. The Law Enforcement Center also oversees operation of the Steele County Detention Center, which focuses on safe and humane housing of sentenced and unsentenced detainees awaiting due process. The Law Enforcement Center is located in Owatonna, Minn.

The Steele County Administration Center maintains a human services department that offers services for the protection of adults and children and assistance for custodial and non-custodial parents. The center provides medical and financial assistance. The Steele County Administration Center s environmental services division provides information related to health issues and concerns, waste reduction, resource conservation and pollution prevention, as well as coordinates a well water testing program. Its environmental service division conducts the Green Source 2020 community project. The center s planning, zoning and building inspection department administers land use and zoning ordinances and uniform building codes. The Steele County Administration Center is located in Owatonna, Minn.
